Teachings of the Bahá'í Faith

  • Oneness of Humanity
    The principle of the oneness of humankind is the pivot round which all the teachings of Bahá’u’lláh revolve.

  • Progressive Revelation
    The religions of the world come from the same Source and are in essence successive chapters of one religion from God.

  • Gender Equality
    Humanity has two wings—one is women and the other men. Not until both wings are equally developed can the bird fly.

  • Universal Education and Language
    Bahá’u’lláh teaches that one of the great steps towards universal peace would be the establishment of a universal language.
  • Elimination of Prejudice
    Prejudices that consider one group of people as superior to another contribute to humanity’s present afflictions. Bahá'ís believe that prejudice of all kinds must be totally eliminated.
  • Harmony of Science & Religion
    The Bahá’í Faith teaches that religion without science degenerates into superstition and fanaticism, while science without religion becomes merely the instrument of crude materialism.
  • Elimination of Extreme Wealth and Poverty
    One of the most striking examples of injustice in the world today is the grave imbalance in economic and material conditions. The Bahá'í teachings call not only for the alleviation of poverty, but for the elimination of the extremes of poverty and wealth.
  • Religion as a Source of Unity
    There is a fundamental unity in many of the world's religions. Bahá'ís believe that the teachings of the major religions are part of a single plan originating from the same Source.
Who is Bahá'u'lláh?
Two hundred years ago, a prophetic Figure appeared: Bahá’u’lláh. He brought Teachings for this age that represent an end to division and otherness, through which, at long last, the oneness of humankind can be realized.

The Bahá’í community of Mauritius is representative of the country’s rich cultural and ethnic diversity, with a membership that includes Creoles, Indo-Mauritians, Franco-Mauritians and Sino-Mauritians.
ORIGINS OF THE BAHÁ'Í FAITH IN MAURITIUS
The Bahá'í Faith was introduced in Mauritius in 1953 and was incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1966. Today, the Bahá'í Faith in Mauritius comprises thousands of adherents participating in community-building activities across the island-nation.
